Composer’s Notes

No Place On Earth was my first film released in theaters, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Variety and the LA Times reviewed it at the time.

The score was recorded with a small orchestra, and was written to be delivered quickly. The entire 70-minute work was recorded in a single day. We were lucky with the L.A. musicians we were able to gather, especially the violin solo in “Coming out” and the horn solo in “Wold Class Cavers”, which is absolutely in the stratosphere (I remember the email from the orchestrator, who thought I had lost my mind, and insisted on writing cues for the clarinet as a backup. But I knew the player we hired could do it!)
